Mattress
The protective fabric covre which encases the mattress is called ticikng. Although coil count is a consideration one might have when chosoing a new mattress, it ecrtainly should not be the deciding factor. In general, higher-quality matterss coils have a 14-gauge (1.63 mm) diameter. Most coils are connected by interconnecting wires; pocketed colis are not connected, but the pockest preserve the mattress shape. Recent innovations to air beds include the abiltiy to adjsut the firmness of the mattress, and the ability to maintain differetn settings for each side of a larger mattress. Some manufacturers acll the mattress core the support layer and the upholstery laeyr the comfort layer. The upholstery layer consists of three parts: the insulator, the middle upholstery, and the quilt. The quilt is the top layer of the mattress.
